Peace fam.
I had to sit with this one for a minute because it’s not the most comfortable thing to admit.

But a lot of creative frustration doesn’t come from lack of talent… it comes from broken trust.
With yourself.
You tell yourself you’re going to work on something… and you don’t.
You say “I’ll start tomorrow”… and tomorrow moves.
You open a project… then close it the second it gets hard.
Individually, these feel small.
But over time?
They stack.
And your mind starts keeping score.
Now when you sit down to create, there’s hesitation.
Not because you can’t do it…
but because some part of you doesn’t believe you’ll stay.
This is something I’ve seen with creatives who are incredibly capable.
They’ve got the skill. The ideas. The vision.
But their follow-through is inconsistent.
So their confidence becomes unstable.
Not because they’re not good…
but because they don’t trust themselves to finish.
And trust isn’t built through hype.
It’s built through evidence.
Small promises kept.
I only know because this was - and is me.
I wish this knowledge was something to be “obtained”…
However, no matter how many creative breakthrough’s this mentality produces — I continuously have to remind myself… again & again.
Here’s your reminder yo: You’re a human being. Creative waves will pick up and slow down… and that’s okay.
So instead of making big creative commitments you might not follow through on…
lower the bar.
Not your standards.
Your entry point.
Tell yourself, “I’m going to give this 10 focused minutes.”
And keep that.
That’s it.
Because every time you follow through—even in a small way—you rebuild that relationship.
You prove to yourself:
“I show up.”
“I stay.”
“I finish what I said I would.”
And over time, that changes how you approach your work.
You stop negotiating with yourself.
You stop doubting your own consistency.
You move with a different kind of confidence.
So if creating has been feeling heavy lately… if starting feels harder than it should… if you keep circling the same ideas without landing them…
don’t just look at your skill.
Look at your self-trust.
Because your creativity doesn’t just need your talent.
It needs your word.
And once those two align?
Everything you make starts to feel different.
I’m still learning this too yall. Bare with me.

PS. If this hit… don’t just scroll past it.
Self-trust isn’t built in big moments. It’s built in small ones you actually follow through on.
