Bio
WHO IS THE GOLD GIRAFFE?
Father. Sonic Storyteller. Self-taught Sound Architect. Builder of Beach Knight and Vibrational Worlds.
The Gold Giraffe is Tevin Rice - a father, husband, multi-instrumentalist, and self-taught music producer who’s been creating since the days of burning CDs in his bedroom. With a sound that fuses Hip Hop, R&B, and world sounds, his music isn’t boxed in - it’s expansive, spiritual, and rooted in intention.
He's been making music since 2002, writing, publishing, and self-producing his own albums since he was just 10 years old. Trained in classical piano, theatre, and Speech & Debate at St. Louis’s Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, he later taught himself the intricate craft of audio engineering and digital production - learning not just how to make music, but how to design sound.
Over the years, he’s operated under several creative monikers - TJada, Tommy JiZoo Rice, Hello JiZoo, and DJ Dr. Tommy Pickelz - each representing a different season of artistic evolution. Through all these names, one thing remained consistent: a deep, spiritual commitment to crafting music that uplifts, tells stories, and transcends genre.
His projects include the vivid nostalgia of 8 Exabytes of Memory (2017), the raw and rhythmic 5 Giraffes EP (2019), and the genre-melting experience Knight Bro (2022). His latest body of work, Beach Knight, is a culmination of everything - his love for storytelling, sound design, spiritual symbolism, and his hometown of St. Louis. The album asks the question: What if St. Louis had a beach? And answers it with soundwaves that feel like ceremony.
Beyond the music, The Gold Giraffe is also a devoted father and husband to powerhouse vocalist and artist Drea Vocalz, often collaborating with her and fellow visionary Lakes the Voice to create transcendent live experiences. His performances have graced stages across the U.S. and even Jamaica - continuing a family legacy started by his father, a pioneering Christian rap artist.
In a world driven by online metrics, Gold has chosen a different path. He’s vowed not to use social media, building his following instead through organic connection, live shows, email storytelling, and deeply intentional design. It’s a rare and bold stance in today’s world - but one that reflects his values: sacred creativity, community-rooted art, and lasting resonance over fleeting noise.
The Gold Giraffe doesn’t make music for trends. He makes music for healing. For memory. For movement. And for the people who are still listening with their spirit.
